What this extension does

Client Doc Sorter is a Chrome extension that helps bookkeepers and accountants save email attachments from Gmail into organized, client-named folders on their own computer.

What data we access

When you use Client Doc Sorter, the extension reads attachment information (file names and download links) from the Gmail page you have open, only when you click "Scan." It does not read your emails automatically, and it does not run in the background.

What we do with that data

Everything stays on your own computer. The extension downloads the files you choose directly to your local Downloads folder, using Chrome's own built-in download system. We do not send, transmit, upload, or store any of your email content, attachments, or personal data on any external server. There is no backend server for this extension — it works entirely inside your browser.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share any data with third parties
• We don't use your data for advertising
• We don't track your browsing activity
• We don't store your emails or attachments anywhere except your own computer, in the location you choose

Client and tax-year names you type in

The client name and tax year you type into the extension panel are only used to name the download folder on your own computer. This information is not transmitted anywhere and is not saved by the extension after you close the tab (it resets when you reload Gmail).

Permissions this extension uses, and why

• Gmail access (mail.google.com): to read attachment information from the email you have open, so it can be saved
• Downloads: to save the files to your computer in an organized folder
